Over the last few years we have been fortunate enough to be able to make several large grants to various organizations through the generosity of our Anonoymous Donor. Prior to that we were only able to give scholarships and a few small grants. Our Grants Review Committee is made up of people from the community as well as some Board Members. Some of their criteria for making granting decisions has been to try to answer the following questions. How many people will this project serve when complete? Have we approved projects in other communities within our boundaries, not just in Mayerthorpe? Will it make a lasting impression? Does it span a variety of age groups and categories within our mandate ie. recreation, social service, educational, health, or arts & culture? What will have the biggest impact?
