Guidelines For Grantseekers

Mayerthorpe Area Community Foundation


The Mayerthorpe Area Community Foundation (MACF) invites applications for projects from non-profit community groups working within the fields of social service, community development, education, recreation, health, the arts, and the environment. We provide grants to encourage community pride, support initiatives and develop special opportunities. Please review the following guidelines to determine if your project  meets the following guidelines. * Projects approved for grants must primarily benefit the people within our geographic boundaries which are Mayerthorpe, Sangudo, Rochfort Bridge, Cherhill, County of Lac Ste Anne, County of Woodlands including Blue Ridge and Anselmo.

* Grants are made only to non-profit organizations with Revenue Canada Charitable Registration numbers or other qualified donees under the Income Tax Act.

* Grants are awarded for specific purposes and for projects covering a specified period of time.

* Preference will be given to projects which contribute to the community’s growing needs for artistic, cultural, recreational, educational, and health related programs.

*Capital projects will be considered if there is a demonstrated need.

* Bursaries and scholarships will be awarded to individuals through educational institutions.

* Pilot or demonstration projects must include an evaluation process and a plan for financial
viability beyond the pilot stage.

*The Foundation encourages the participation of others in funding projects and may provide
matching funds or challenge grants to stimulate responses from other sources.

*Grants are not usually made towards operating or capital deficits.

*The Foundation does not respond to annual fund drives for sustaining support.

*Grants are not made to establish or add to endowment funds or to fund any specificmedical or scientific research projects or to support religious organizations & their activities.

*Grants are not made to promote political activities, support advocacy initiatives or conferences.

*An application form needs to be completed with all pertinent info supplied. A meeting with
staff or directors may be required.

*All successful applicants will submit a final report & evaluation upon completion of
the project. The Foundation reserves the right to audit the project upon
completion or at intervals during the project.

APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AT ANY TIME….HOWEVER GRANTS ARE MADE TWICE A YEAR WITH THE FOLLOWING DEADLINES:

Application Deadline: January 15th.       Granting Decision/Presentation:  March
Application Deadline: October 15th.       Granting Decision/Presentation: December
